I started my marketing career while I was still a student at Southeastern Louisiana University. During my time as a student, I completed internships at Island Def Jam Music Group and Roca Wear. Within these internships, I was able to collaborate on marketing and promotions campaigns for high profile artists such as Jay-Z, Rihanna, Rick Ross, and Kanye West. I worked alongside the College Promotions Manager to create effective strategies that would work in my target market. I also managed a team of 20 ambassadors who helped execute the campaigns I developed, such as the Kanye West “Graduation” Block Party, Rick Ross concerts at Xavier University and Southeastern, and the Chrisette Michelle Soiree. These experiences fueled my desire to pursue a career in marketing.
Upon graduating, I accepted a job offer from Alloy Media & Marketing, a full-service marketing firm based in New York. I was responsible for creating and managing multi-million dollar campaigns, from the concept phase to execution. I worked with a diverse group of clients such as Major League Baseball, Nintendo, Clinique, Gallo, US ARMY, Trojan Condoms, Oxygen, and Axe Body Spray. By conducting extensive research and brand testing, I was able to increase the ROI for my clients through effective marketing and promotions campaigns.
I then moved on to work with Max Custom Media, where I held a similar role as at Alloy. Eventually, I decided to create my own company, Prototype Solutions LLC (later renamed Prototype Media and Marketing), which specializes in viable marketing and promotions campaign formulation (online & offline), social media management, budgetary action plan creation, consulting, and branding. Our clients included McDonalds, New York State Senate, and Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts.
Currently, I am the President of Prototype MKTG, a creative agency that specializes in digital, experiential, and multicultural marketing.
I previously served as a Senior Product Marketing Manager (Global Reputation Marketing) for YouTube.
